Local Badger Sett at risk from illegal development
Please take the time to object to this planning application ...
This is my written objection -
This business has taken advantage, and is applying for retrospective permission. ...
Please don't forget this.
This land has a badger sett on it, the first in 30 years, badgers are protected species and the sett should be protected, they are already seriously under threat with the horrendous culling, this business is already too closely encroaching on the badgers territory.
There are other birds and wildlife well established here. Wildlife and the countryside are under a great deal of stress and harm due to disregard and over development.
Please protect the wildlife and their habitats from this and any further invasion on this site.
Without authorisation they started expanding a carpark & dumping the spoil on an ancient hedgerow near the badger setts (the first here in over 30 years).
Now they're applying for retrospective planning permission to expand & continue this environmental destruction.
Please note my objection under the 1992 Badger Protection Act, which states that it's an offence to "Intentionally or recklessly damage or destroy a badger sett, or obstruct access to it".
I further object under the 1981 Wildlife & Countryside Act re: - damage to an ancient hedgerow, bat roosts & nesting birds.
Thank you for your consideration

The threat is from an industrial unit based at Eurotech house that backs onto the wood. Without authorisation they started expanding a carpark & dumping the spoil on an ancient hedgerow near the setts.

Response from PCC:
Dear Elaine
At the moment this application is delegated and so does not need to go to Planning Committee but we are giving consideration whether it should be referred to Planning Committee due to the issues surrounding the application. If it does need to go to Planning Committee the date is likely to be 30th July. The case officer, Liz Wells, will advise you accordingly.

Partridge and Pheasant campaign...
Animal Aid has just released new undercover footage showing the cruel and oppressive cages that partridges and pheasants are kept in, to produce the birds that will be shot for sport.
I have just emailed Defra to ask that they investigate the breaches of the welfare code discovered, and also to ban the use of such cages.

Ask the NHS to stop serving processed red meat products!
Hospital food has a notorious reputation and has been the target of numerous tabloid newspaper and celebrity chef backed campaigns to improve standards. But all of these initiatives have failed to tackle two significant issues relating to hospital catering: provision for vegans, and the serving of processed red meat to patients, particularly given its links to an increased risk of bowel cancer.
